Win A Date With Lisa Barone Threadwatcher.com Is Floating My Boat
Jul 19

My New Years resolution for 2007 was to become a published author, with the thought of writing an SEO book which tackles search from the corporate and in-house point of view. This idea fell by the wayside when several friends in the industry also announced similar intentions (although with different angles and subjects).

The book which I was planning would not just cover the basic Best Practice areas, but also tackle issues such as Black Hat SEO and dealing with agency bullshit. I’ve worked with some of the biggest brands on the web, and really think that there’s still a lot to be learnt when dealing with corporate websites.

Would you read such a book, and should I follow my ambitions?

I’d read it…would be nice to hear a non-arsekissing perspective on these issues.

After just spent a month or so trying to place an seo contract with an agency I think this book would be very interesting.

Agency bullshit like ‘blue sky thinking’, determining whether you are comissioning a link broker or an SEO, and actually finding firms that can implement as well as come up with ideas……….

yeah, a book would come in useful ;)

Sounds like a decent read but sounds more suitable for a short ebook than a proper paperback.

Especially since its quite a transient topic and online marketing is re-shapring agency engagement now.

I definitely think you should go for it. As Julie says, we need something that tells it like it is, and from different angles. Maybe now’s the best time to do it and uncover the gold so to speak. I have a feeling that very soon, this kind of books may start coming out in print, and then you’ve missed the boat ;o)

Ever since Search Engine Marketing, Inc, I haven’t seen a quality paper-based book on SEO…

Do it! Not only will I be first in line to buy it, I’d be happy to promote it.

And since you’ve got an offer to translate it into swedish, I’d be happy to help you translate it into English. Y’know, take out all the ‘you alright’?’ and ‘mate’s’ and stuff.

    Go for it!

All the SEO books I have seen tackle SEO from a mom and pop point of view.

Not sold out the corporate hell hole long enough see all agency bullshit, to busy dealing with all the internal crap, and explaining basics to senior management who just don’t get it.
